I'm boarding my pet for the first time? What should I expect?

Your pet will adjust quickly to our boarding facility, our staff and routines. Feeding, cleaning, exercise, and kennel staff monitoring are all scheduled events that bring order and structure to the boarding environment.

Picture the situation of boarding your pet with us like you would your child at a school camp. Although your pet is away from the home comforts and famliy company, they love the excitement of others nearby. On leaving they are happy to see mum, dad and going home and look forward to their future stays. Just like a school camp.

How long can my dog board at the Country Pet Motel?
Do you discount for long-term boarding?

Yes, your pet is welcome to stay for an extended period of time. We do offer discounts depending on the size of dog and the duration of the stay with us. Contact us for further information.

Can My Pet Catch A Disease by being kennelled with other pets?

Yes, your pet can be exposed to disease when kenneled with other animals.
The risk is, however, quite low, and virtually eliminated when kennels require advance vaccination to ensure a healthy population of boarded guests. Additionally, high sanitation standards and quality living conditions are vitally important to ensuring an absence of disease.

Our modern sanitation procedures, air flow system, required vaccinations, kennel suites construction, and staff training programs all help to create a healthy, safe and secure environment for your pets when they are in our care. You may have heard "horror stories" of poor treatment and conditions at kennels in the past…we have taken great pains to ensure that we provide a first-class, highly sanitary environment that dispel any fears you might have about boarding your pets with us.

What if my pet has medications?

There is a small fee for administration of medications, please ask at reception.

What if my pet is high care?

We are happy to provide for your pets high care needs, though we need to charge to cover the costs, please ask at reception.

Can all my pets stay together in the same suite?

Yes, we can accommodate your wishes and board your pets together in the same suite, as space allows
(typically we allow up to 3 dogs each to board together in the same suite - this allows adequate space for each pet and promotes both comfort and safety).

Do you give discounts for multiple pets?

Not usually, as we care for every pet individually. It may depend on the duration of the stay and the number of pets staying with us. Give us a call to let us know your situation.

Do you require a deposit in advance of a boarding visit?

A deposit provides you peace of mind that your booking is secure. We require a deposit for peak holiday periods (including Christmas and Easter).

Since so many of our customers rely on us to provide verified reservations before they can finalize their family vacation or business travel plans, we must ensure that every reservation we accept is "real", and highly likely to occur. It would be unfortunate to have to upset a family's vacation plans because of lack of available space, and then come to find that we could have accommodated them all along, because of late cancellations. This responsibility to our customers drives our deposit policy.

What is your cancellation policy?

We realize that plans do change, and wish to accommodate all of our customer's needs. However, there are generally no refunds for peak period bookings.

While my dog is boarding with you, will they be taken out for walks?

Yes, your pet gets to play in their individual grassed outdoor area twice daily.
This is a fun time for the pets as they enjoy other pets company and are safe in their individually fenced area.

My pets like to have toys with them. Can they have their favorite toys while boarding with you?

Your pets may have one or two toys to play with in their suite during their stay. If you bring toys from home, be sure to mark them with permanent ink with your last name. Your pets' toys will stay with them in their suites and we do our best to return all toys. Occasionally, a toy may be lost during a playtime or cleaning.

My dog is on a special diet. Can I bring in my own food?

Our planned premium meal program consists of a high quality dry food with a variety of both cooked and raw food. However, if your pet requires a special diet, we encourage you to bring their food when boarding. We will follow your instructions to make sure your pet follows his regular diet. By pre-bagging each meal in a separate bag labeled with your pet's name, your pet will receive the exact amount of food that you feed him or her at home.

What is your policy concerning vaccinations?

We have a responsibility to ensure the health and safety of all the animals in our care, and so we require that every guest be vaccinated against certain serious, contagious diseases.
Dog guests must have their current C3 and C5 vaccinations.

We know there is some debate about the benefits/risks of vaccinations. After reviewing the advice of medical experts on the subject, we have decided to take a conservative approach.

What happens when a pet becomes ill?

We have 24-hour, on-call veterinary support. We maintain relationships with several veterinary hospitals near each center so that we are always assured of emergency veterinary care whenever it is required.

Do you have someone at your pet care centers 24 hours a day? What about vet coverage?

Our residence is in reasonably close proximity to the boarding facilities and also have a staff cottage on-site.
This ensures that there is always an experienced staff on the premises

We also have 24-hour emergency veterinary care set-up with a highly reputable, local vet.

What kind of training do your associates have for handling emergencies?

All staff are fully trained in proper animal handling techniques and have had many years of experience.
This ensures that you pet is in great care.

Can I make reservations on-line?

Presently, no. Our on-line reservations system, which is currently under development, will be available after it has gone through extensive testing to ensure that it works perfectly. We want to test it thoroughly before it goes "live" on our web site so we can be sure of offering you the best service possible. We will announce to all of our customers that this new service is available once it's ready.

Can I visit your facility before I decide to use your services?

Please visit during our business hours (typically Monday-Saturday 8.30am to 10.30am or 3pm - 5.30pm or Sunday 4pm to 5.30pm.
